Best Hotels Near Berlin Christmas Markets
Even though Berlin doesn’t get the same attention as other parts of Germany, I think it’s a fantastic choice for a Christmas market trip. So if you’ve decided to come to Berlin for Christmas markets, you’ve made a good choice. Now you have to decide where to stay in Berlin at Christmas to see the sights and enjoy the holiday cheer. Here’s a look at hotels near Berlin Christmas markets.
Keep in mind that there are more than 60 different Christmas markets in Berlin. Even if you narrow it down to a handful of the best ones, they’re still spread out in different parts of the city.
So no matter where you stay in Berlin for Christmas markets, you will probably have to hop on transport to go see one or two markets. But that’s ok because Berlin has a good transport system that will keep you well connected around the city.

My top pick for best hotel in Berlin for Christmas Markets
I think two of the best Christmas markets to visit in Berlin are Gendarmenmarkt and Charlottenburg Palace. So with that in mind, these are my number one choices for the best hotel to stay in Berlin for Christmas markets depending on which part of the city you prefer.
Hotels in Berlin near Christmas markets
Let’s take a look at the Best places to stay in Berlin for Christmas markets. I’ve split up my recommendations based on neighborhood and the popular Christmas markets you are likely to want to visit.
Best area to stay in Berlin for Christmas markets: Mitte
Different neighborhoods have their pros, but in my experience, the best area of Berlin to stay for Christmas markets is Mitte. This is the central district, which means you’ll be close to the most number of Christmas markets and well connected to ones located in other parts of the city.

The popular Berlin Christmas markets located in Mitte are WeihnachtsZauber at Gendarmenmarkt, Rotes Rathaus, Potsdamer Platz, and Alexanderplatz. There’s a new Christmas market at Humboldt Forum that started a few years ago, and I thought it was a really good one in a gorgeous setting. I also quite like the Sustainable Christmas market on Sophienstrasse, which takes place on the first, second, and third Advent weekends.
If you’re interested in spending time at these Christmas markets, staying in Mitte means you’ll be within walking distance or a short Ubahn or Sbahn ride away. And for any meals you don’t want to eat at the markets, you’ll find lots of restaurants in Mitte.

Charlottenburg
If you’re wondering where to stay in Berlin for Christmas markets in the western part of the city, Charlottenburg is a great neighborhood. The two big Christmas markets here are the Charlottenburg Palace Market and the City Weihnachtsmarkt at Breitscheidplatz and Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.

My favorite option in this neighborhood is the 25Hours Hotel because its “jungle” rooms look out over the Berlin Zoo and Tiergarten Park. But the park might not be so impressive in winter in Berlin, so getting a city view room could be a good choice because you’ll actually get views of the Breitscheidplatz Christmas market.

Prenzlauer Berg
Prenzlauer Berg doesn’t actually have many Christmas markets, but it’s a lovely neighborhood in Berlin to stay if you want to be a little farther from the tourist areas. The one Christmas market here that’s really popular with locals is called Lucia Weihnachtsmarkt, located in the Kulturbrauerei courtyard.

If you decide to stay in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg for the Christmas markets, you’ll just need to hop on public transport to reach markets in other parts of the city.

Friedrichshain
Friedrichshain is the neighborhood where the East Side Gallery is located, and it tends to have a more alternative and artsy vibe. There are a few Christmas markets here, including the Historical/Medieval market at RAW, Heissa Holzmarkt, and the All Inclusive Christmas Market.

This neighborhood is also well connected by transport to the rest of Berlin, so you could still easily visit some of the other markets even if you decide to stay here. This is the district I live in, so I have lots of restaurant recommendations for Friedrichshain.
