Berlin Marathon Cheering Route Planner: How to Cheer From Multiple Places
In just a minute or two, you’ll have an estimate for what time your friend or family member will be at each kilometer marker along the course so you can cheer them on from 4 or 5 (or more!) places along the Berlin Marathon course. Plus it includes 4 example cheering routes with public transportation directions.

Picking a few random places might not work out
You could just pick a location towards the beginning of the course and another towards the end, and you’d get to see your person twice.
But it’s so satisfying to do more. And your friend or family member who’s participating in the Berlin Marathon worked their butt off training for months for this race. Wouldn’t it be amazing for them if you could cheer them on from more than just 1 or 2 locations? Seeing you along the way will really help keep them motivated during this difficult challenge.
- Where will your person be, and at what time?
- Do you have enough time to get to the locations you want?
- How to get from one place to another in a city you’re not familiar with?
The time math alone is enough to make your head hurt. But it IS possible to get to multiple locations!
I’m here to help with the Berlin marathon cheering route planner tool that I created after doing all the complicated math for you. Just plug your participant’s start time and pace, and my tool will give you a time estimate for each kilometer marker. Plus I’ve created several example cheering routes with directions for getting around on public transportation.
Show up and cheer for your marathon participant
In 2024, I wanted to cheer for two runners as they ran the Berlin Marathon. They both had different start times and ran at different paces, so it was a little complicated to figure out where to go to cheer them on.
But I managed to see one person at two different places, and the other person at three places. I easily could have gotten to at least one more place.

It took a couple of hours and lots of math to figure out where they might each be at different times so I could come up with some reasonable places to see them. Then I also had to plan out the public transportation routes to make sure the timing all worked.
I quickly saw how complicated and overwhelming this would be for someone who doesn’t live here. It’s not so hard cheer at one or two different places, but if you really want to see your friend or family member more than that, you need to do some serious planning.
So I created this tool to help you sketch out a route to see your marathon participant multiple times to help encourage them through this challenging experience. I even have an option to help you track two participants so you can cheer for them both at different places.
Plus I’ve created four example cheering routes, two for following one person and two for following two people. These will give you a starting point to work from, and the tool itself lets you verify timing or even plot out your own route.
You’ll get to see several different parts of Berlin, and you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment for making it to so many different places to cheer. Maybe not as much pride as the person who, you know, actually PARTICIPATED in the marathon, but you’ll get to do your part in keeping them motivated along the way. It always helps to see a familiar face.
This is why I created my Berlin Marathon Cheering Route Planner tool, and it only costs US$15.

I’ve also made a YouTube video, which you can view here. In it I’m show you how to use the Google spreadsheet, how to use the BVG Fahrinfo app to get around Berlin, and more.
This marathon cheering route planner tool will help you estimate where your marathon participant will be and when, which will help you plan out where to go cheer for them. It’ll help you avoid showing up somewhere your person has already passed.
Rather than just cheering from one or two places, you could show up for your spouse/friend/family member at multiple locations, cheering them on in a tough race they’ve spent months training for.
